lyrics

Stay a while (written in Feb & March 2019 in Milan)

She’s moving on
Not fully gone
I wouldn’t let her hear me say it but she knows I wasn’t wrong
Just the time, the time was wrong

We’d never fight
Well hardly ever
I felt misunderstood and I thought I was so clever
But I’ve learned. I hope I’ve learned

We can’t wipe the canvas clean
We’ve got lines in the next scene

We’ll pack a bag
Pack your coat
Fill up the boot and leave the messages you wrote
Weigh em down. They’re sure to find 'em

It’s not the same
There’s hidden pains
It’s been a while but we both think of our old flames
Can't blow em out. I can’t blow em out

Pass me by and let it rain
I’ll begin this letter with your name

Tuesday night
Woke up in sweat
Holding me so tight, there’s nothing I regret
It’s just a dream. What’s in your dreams?

Run to me
Hold me tight
The orange of your tears underneath the sodium light
Stay a while. Please stay a while

Pass me by and let it rain
I’ll begin this letter with your name
